Terms of Use
Welcome to Lingvoo. Lingvoo is operated by POFKARIO HOLDINGS LIMITED, a company registered in the Republic of Cyprus under registration no. HE 467843, with its registered office at Promachon Eleftherias 1, 1st floor, Office 18/19, Agios Athanasios, 4103, Limassol, Cyprus ("Company", "Lingvoo", "we", "us").
These Terms of Use (the "Terms") apply to your access to and use of our websites lingvoo.com and lingvoo.ai (including start.lingvoo.com and app.lingvoo.com), our web application, the Lingvoo translator that joins your online meetings, and all related services, features and content (together, the "Services"). If you have any questions about these Terms or the Services, contact us at support@lingvoo.com.
These Terms are a binding contract between you and the Company. They include the Privacy Policy (lingvoo.com/privacy), the Subscription and Refund Terms (lingvoo.com/refund) and the Cookie Policy (lingvoo.com/cookies), which form part of these Terms. By creating an account, making a purchase or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
Any translation of these Terms is provided for convenience only. If a translation differs from the English version, the English version prevails.
1. Changes to these Terms
We improve the Services over time, and these Terms may change. We will announce material changes on lingvoo.com, by email and/or in the app before they take effect. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you may stop using the Services and cancel your subscription; continuing to use the Services after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. Changes do not apply retroactively to a billing period you have already paid for.
2. The Services
Lingvoo provides real-time AI voice translation and captions for online meetings. When you start a session, you paste a meeting link and select languages; a Lingvoo translator bot joins the meeting, receives the meeting audio, and produces live translated speech and captions that participants can hear or read through the meeting or through a listener link. We may also offer a short demo that translates speech from your device's microphone without an account.
We may add, change or remove features. The supported meeting platforms, languages, voices and session modes are those shown in the app at the time you use it.
3. Eligibility and accounts
3.1. You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to create an account or buy a plan.
3.2. You may sign up with your email address (one-time sign-in code) or with a third-party account such as Google. When you sign in through a third-party account, you allow us to receive the profile information described in the Privacy Policy.
3.3. You agree to give accurate, complete and up-to-date information, not to impersonate anyone, and not to transfer your account without our written permission.
3.4. Keep your sign-in credentials secure and do not share your account. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us promptly at support@lingvoo.com if you suspect unauthorised use.
3.5. Lingvoo is operated with infrastructure shared with a related operator.
4. Subscriptions, payments and cancellation
Plans, intro offers, minute packs, renewal, cancellation and refunds are governed by the Subscription and Refund Terms at lingvoo.com/refund, which form part of these Terms. In short: paid subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel at any time in your account settings or by emailing support@lingvoo.com; and an intro purchase is covered by a 7-day money-back guarantee. The price, billing period and currency that apply to your purchase are the ones shown at checkout before you pay.
Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's secure form and do not reach our servers.
5. Meeting content, captions and consent
5.1. User Data. "User Data" means any content that passes through or is created by the Services in connection with your account, including meeting audio and video received by the translator, voice and speech data, live captions, translations, transcripts, outputs and feedback.
5.2. Your responsibility to inform participants. Before you add the Lingvoo translator to a meeting, you must inform all meeting participants that the meeting will be translated and captioned by an AI service, and obtain any consent required by law to process, caption, translate and share their speech. Captions are produced and stored for every session. The Company is not responsible for your failure to give notice or obtain consent.
5.3. Real-time processing. By starting a session you instruct us to process the audio and speech of that meeting in real time to produce translation and captions. Processing of meeting audio stops when the session ends. We do not keep a recording of the meeting audio or video after the call; our meeting-bot provider operates in zero-data-retention mode.
5.4. Captions and transcripts. Captions and their translations are generated and stored for every session; there is no setting that turns caption storage off. While a session is running, its live captions and caption history are available to anyone who holds the session's listener link, without signing in, so share that link only with people you intend to give access. After the session ends, only the account that ran the session can access its captions. There is no team or organisation sharing. Captions are retained until you ask us to delete them by writing to support@lingvoo.com from the email address on your account.
5.5. Licence to us. You keep all rights in your User Data. You grant the Company a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process, transcribe, translate, display and store User Data, and to modify it for technical purposes, solely to provide, secure and improve the Services; to use feedback you give us; and to use aggregated and anonymised data that does not identify you or any meeting participant. We do not use the content of your meetings for advertising.
6. Artificial intelligence
The Services use artificial intelligence and machine learning, including third-party speech recognition, translation and speech synthesis models. Translations and captions are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete or delayed, even when they appear fluent. Do not rely on them as the sole basis for legal, medical, financial or other decisions where accuracy is critical; check important information independently or use a qualified human interpreter.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Services, or provide any User Data, in a way that:
- violates any law or regulation, or the rights of others, including privacy and intellectual property rights;
- records, translates or captions a meeting without the notice or consent required by law;
- is fraudulent, harassing, defamatory, hateful, obscene or dangerous;
- attempts to access other users' accounts, sessions or data, or jeopardises account security;
- probes, scans or breaches the security of the Services or interferes with their normal operation, including by overloading them or circumventing usage limits, demo limits or anti-abuse checks;
- collects data from the Services by automated means without our permission;
- copies, modifies, resells or reverse engineers the Services, except where the law expressly allows it; or
- uses the Services from a country or by a person subject to EU, UN, UK or US sanctions.
We may suspend or restrict an account or session that we reasonably believe breaches this section, and will tell you why unless the law or security reasons prevent it.
8. Intellectual property
The Services, including the software, design, text, graphics, trademarks and the Lingvoo name and logo, belong to the Company or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Services for their intended purpose. You may not use our trademarks without our prior written permission.
9. Communications
We send service messages about your account, such as sign-in codes, receipts and billing notices; these are part of the Services. If you opt in, we may also send product updates and offers. You can stop promotional email at any time through the unsubscribe link or by writing to support@lingvoo.com; service messages are not affected.
10. Third-party services
The Services work with third-party meeting platforms (such as Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams) and rely on third-party providers listed in the Privacy Policy. We do not control third-party platforms, and their own terms apply to your use of them. Changes by a meeting platform may affect how the translator works.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy of translation, or uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Legal guarantee for consumers. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have a statutory guarantee that the Services, throughout your subscription, conform to the contract, are fit for their normal purpose and are of satisfactory quality. Nothing in these Terms limits that guarantee or other mandatory consumer rights.
12. Limitation of liability
12.1. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Company is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or data, arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Services.
12.2. The Company's total liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Services is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid to the Company for the Services in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and (b) EUR 100.
12.3. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
13. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify the Company and its officers, directors, employees and agents against claims, liabilities and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these Terms or your use of the Services in violation of law or of the rights of others, including a failure to inform meeting participants or obtain their consent. This section does not apply to consumers to the extent mandatory consumer law prohibits it.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services and delete your account at any time by writing to support@lingvoo.com from the email address on your account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Services; where we discontinue the Services for reasons other than your breach, we will give reasonable notice and refund any prepaid amount for the unused part of a billing period. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including sections 5.5, 8 and 11 to 16, survive.
15. Governing law and disputes
15.1. These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or the Services are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
15.2. Before starting proceedings, please contact us at support@lingvoo.com so we can try to resolve the matter informally; we will reply within 30 days.
15.3. Subject to section 15.4, the courts of the Republic of Cyprus have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute.
15.4. If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms deprives you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of the country where you live, and you may also bring proceedings in the courts of that country.
16. General
16.1. Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the documents they incorporate, are the entire agreement between you and the Company regarding the Services.
16.2. Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the rest of these Terms remains in effect.
16.3. Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, reorganisation or sale of assets, provided your rights under these Terms are not reduced.
16.4. No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
16.5. Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including failures of meeting platforms, networks or third-party providers.
